What makes a Rangers game truly ‘great’? A well-matched cup final? An Old Firm demolition? A European glory night? Or is it always the prize won that determines greatness? Fans of Heart & Hand provide the definitive answer.

In 2019 fans of the popular Rangers podcast voted in great numbers to establish the 50 greatest matches in the long history of the club. Would Pittodrie 1987 outrank Parkhead 1999? Is any game greater than Barcelona 1972?

The host of The Time Capsule, Martyn Ramsay, brings the fan experience of these games back to life, analyses the action, places them in historical context and asks why some resonate more than others and why some don’t at all.

The Glasgow Times

New book chronicles the 50 Greatest Rangers Games - but could the best still be to come?

“By the time you open this book I dearly hope that it is out of date, that more great European nights and Old Firm victories have been experienced or you have even seen some trophies won,” Ramsay writes in ‘The 50 Greatest Rangers Games’. The best could yet be to come.

Gersnet - Independent Rangers website (@JOHNMCCALLUM)

"The book is a sepia hued, blue-nose nostalgia-fest, that skillfully avoids rose-tinting the past, while celebrating the seasons, matches, moments and people who have shaped our club and our relationship with it....I’ll read it again, and I’ll give it to my Dad and to my sons to read too. I encourage you to do the same."

"I’m glad to report that this is one of the best books about Rangers that has been published in a very long time....no Rangers supporter – or fan of how football acts as a force to entertain, frustrate, educate, and bring friends and families together – will be able to resist. It’s a beautifully-written, constantly amusing, and broadly illuminating look at some of the best moments in the history of one of the game’s most important institutions."

Heart and Hand - Independent Rangers podcast (Derek Clark)

"Whether you are young or old, this book is an absolute must-have for any Rangers supporter....Martyn goes into terrific detail to bring each match to life, the use of imagery and anecdotes are brilliant and at times he questions the positioning of certain fixtures which makes this book all the more interesting and thought-provoking."
